Company "Monos" was founded in the middle of March 1992. The fonder and owner of company is Prof. Omer Hamzić from Gračanica. The company is registrered to carry out more activities but the main one is publication and jurnalism. The war in BiH stopped all operations of the company to the middle of 1995. We did not start with ambition to print the great writers, we were not the subject to illusions to be a competition to the biggest publishing houses. We knew that our start was in time when the interest in books in this country was marginated to the disturbing extent. We had in mind that fighting for books even in the best period of time was a mixture of Don Quixote and Sisyphean work…
And so on…
That is the reason of our survival and why today in a small Bosnian town we have real presumptions to exist with the book and from the book…
We publish two to three editions per year: journalism, history, and literature. Since 1995 we have been publishing Magazine history under title "Gračanički glasnik" (Voice of Gracanica) twice per year, having 100-130 pages, in circulation of 500 to 1000 copies. It is a unique project in private ownership in BiH.
We have ambitious plans and one wish: to realise publishing projects that are of bigger importance and range than what this small publishing house today has.
